Addressing Chemical Corrosion in Tanks/Hoppers

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is a pigment that is used throughout the world and it is also a very difficult material to handle.  Just prior to storage, sulfuric acid was added in small quantities to the pigment.  The addition of the acid caused a flowability issue in the hopper by allowing the material to bridge and cake.  Upon evaluation, TIVAR 88 was the perfect material to not only eliminate the flowability issues caused by the addition of the acid, but it also resolved the chemical corrosion that the acid caused to the hopper walls.  After four years in service, the walls have not shown any sign of chemical wear and the flow issues have disappeared.

Lawrence Industries, Inc. specializes in the design, fabrication and installation of TIVAR® 88 and TIVAR UHMW-PE materials. TIVAR is able to assist with addressing difficult flow materials such as TiO2, and we are able to assist you in using TIVAR to address your flow issue!  Feel free to reach out to sales@lawrenceindustriesnow.com or 260-432-9693
